Meet Jenny
For Jenny Walker, owner of J. Walker Design Studio, design has never been about aesthetics alone, it's about how a space makes you feel & how it influences your daily life.
As a child, she built teepees in the backyard and moved her doll furniture inside, rearranging and reimagining spaces long before she understood why it mattered so much to her. That instinct followed her into adulthood, even through college, where she played Ice Hockey at a Liberal Arts School by day and secretly flipped through design school pamphlets by night, unsure yet how to make room for the creative pull she felt.
Her path to a career in design started somewhere unexpected: the kitchen. Athletics sparked an interest in nutrition, leading her to obtain a Culinary Degree. Working as a Line Chef in farm-to-table kitchens, she came to understand the deep value of organic, local, seasonal ingredients — and began tending restaurant kitchen gardens. When she bought her first home, she planted the very first edible garden of her own. Over five years, that single garden grew into a full-fledged career, and in 2023, she launched her first business, Blooming Bounty Custom Kitchen Gardens. The mission: to create gardens that replaced the grocery store and looked gorgeous in the process.
Design has run through every chapter of Jenny's life. From the kitchens where she crafted beautiful dishes, to the weddings and events she designed & planned, to renovating her own first home, Rosedale, after years of meticulously decorating apartments, and helping friends shape their own spaces. During the sale of Rosedale, the listing went “viral” on social media, and the attention that her designs received made it apparent that there was a demand for her unique skillset. She is entirely self-taught, having built her expertise through true hands-on experience, continuous independent study, and a constant drive to deepen her skills in devotion to her craft.
What Jenny offers is different: she doesn't design for aesthetic, she designs for feel, knowing that how your home presents & functions is the foundation of how you live your life. Rather than working within a single genre, she fuses different styles, and vintage & modern finishes to create spaces that are entirely their own, and deeply personal to the people who live in them. An emphasis on indoor/outdoor living is central to her approach, with interiors designed to speak to and work with the natural environment surrounding them, creating seamless transition from inside-out.
Health and wellness remain at the heart of her work, as Jenny has a particular passion for creating spaces that function as a form of self-care, prioritizing non-toxic materials like lime wash, plaster, natural stone & linen to support physical health and create rooms that support healing & restoration. She is currently studying Feng Shui and NeuroDesign (applying principles of neuroscience and cognitive science to design environments that feel more intuitive and support human well-being) and is excited to incorporate these principles in her future work.
From Full Service Interior Design & New Construction to Edible Gardens, Seasonal Decor, and Event Styling, Jenny brings the same feel-first, bespoke approach to every project she takes on. Whether it's a Full Home Renovation, a Kitchen Garden, a porch dressed for Autumn, or a space made healthier through her Purify Your Home offering, every project begins the same way: with a conversation about how a client wants to live, and ends with a space built to support it.
Her goal, always, is to design spaces that don't just look beautiful on day one, but that continue to improve, deepen, and grow more beautiful with time, just as you do.
